Day 1 | Nairobi → Chogoria Gate (2,950m) → Lake Ellis Camp (3,300m)
Your journey begins with a private transfer from your Nairobi residence or a central meeting point, heading into Kenya's lush central highlands — a scenic 5-hour drive through some of the country's most productive agricultural landscapes. Upon arrival at Chogoria Gate, our team handles all Kenya Wildlife Service formalities before a gentle 2-3hour orientation hike brings you to the idyllic Lake Ellis Camp at 3,300m. The evening's trail is your first immersion into the mountain's extraordinary heathland ecosystem.

Day 2 | Lake Ellis (3,300m) → Lake Michaelson (3,850m)
Hiking time: 4–5 hours | Distance: ~12km | Terrain: Giant heather & endemic lobelia
After a nourishing breakfast with views of the highland moorland, your expert guides lead you along one of East Africa's most spectacular trekking corridors — the Gorges Valley. The route reveals dramatic geological formations carved over millennia, culminating at the jewel of the Chogoria Route: Lake Michaelson (3,850m), a glacially formed lake framed by towering cliffs. Your camp, pre-set by our dedicated support crew, awaits at the water's edge.
Meals included: Picnic Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Lake Michaelson Camp
Day 3 | Rest & Acclimatization Day — Lake Michaelson (3,850m)
This is not simply a rest day — it is a strategic acclimatization day, and one of the most pleasurable on the entire expedition. Spend the hours as you wish: capture world-class landscape photography, try your hand at KWS-authorized fishing on Lake Michaelson, journal by the water mass, or absorb the profound stillness of the alpine environment. Your body quietly prepares for the summit push ahead.
Meals included: All meals at camp | Overnight: Lake Michaelson Camp
Day 4 | Lake Michaelson → Mintos Camp (4,200m) → Point Lenana Summit (4,985m)
The defining day of your expedition begins with a steep but rewarding ascent to Mintos Camp (4,200m) — the ideal high camp for summit preparation. After settling in, rest through the afternoon in anticipation of the midnight call. At 2:30 am, your guides lead the final push to Point Lenana, timed to reach the summit at sunrise — a moment that rewards every step with a panorama stretching across glaciers, crater lakes, and the endless African horizon. After photographs at the summit cairn, descend to Mackinder's Camp for a celebratory breakfast.
Meals included: All meals, afternoon snack, dinner | Overnight: Mintos Camp
Day 5 | Mackinder's Camp (4,000m) → Met Station (3,040m) → Nairobi
With Lenana behind you and a summit beneath your belt, the descent through the Naro Moru Route is a triumphant finale.
