BEST TIME TO CLIMB MOUNT KILIMANJARO
Kilimanjaro can technically be climbed throughout the year, but the most popular trekking periods generally coincide with the drier seasons.
January – March
A beautiful period for climbing, with colder conditions at altitude and a possibility of snow around the summit. This season can offer quieter trails compared with the June–October peak.
June – October
The principal dry-season trekking window and one of the most popular periods to climb Kilimanjaro. Expect higher demand, particularly in July, August and September.
November – December
Short rains can make some trails wetter and more challenging, although experienced operators continue to run climbs during this period.
For the best balance of weather, trail conditions and demand, June–October and January–March are the preferred trekking windows.
